About Cafe Milano

Cafe Milano, on the promenade level, serves contemporary Italian cuisine in a setting reminiscent of a stylish boutique. This is the first Cafe Milano location to open after the U.S. flagship.

On the international circuit, the name Cafe Milano conjures a concept that is much more than a mere reference to good food, but truly a vision that includes the best of the Italian tradition: refined cuisine coupled with authentic hospitality.

The idea is evocative of Milan as it draws in the fashion industry, old world romanticism, and the fast paced modern European style of life.

Cafe Milano opened in Washington DC in November 1992, matched with passion for authentic traditions in an entertaining ambiance, consistent with careful planning that has brought 24 years of success.

Today it is known as the place to see and to be seen: The most glamorous sought after stage in the city, a power center for Heads of state, diplomats, politicians, journalists, broadcasters, business executives, lobbyists and entertainers.

Over the years, Cafe Milano has matured into its own distinctive flair. In Washington DC as well in Abu Dhabi, the very essence of Cafe Milano is to create the experience of a “home away from home.”
An unique formula: very welcoming and casual atmosphere, authentic cuisine and unrivaled hospitality.

The restaurant is designed to reflect its contemporary environment while embracing the waterfront view with coastal inspired design features. Evoking the allure of a Mediterranean “porticciolo” - a little and delightful harbor - the vibrant waterfront will remind you of the atmosphere of a glamorous vacation in Portofino, in Sardinia, in Amalfi Coast or in Capri.

Envisioned by acclaimed New York designer Adam D. Tihany, Cafe Milano Abu Dhabi features a bright, modern, airy feel; the perfect scenery for an escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. A fashionably, relaxed setting for an informal, authentic and genuinely Italian “al fresco” experience.

The focal point of the restaurant lies at the center of the dining room; where large boat shaped sculptures composed of intertwining metal rods hang from the center of the vaulted ceiling.

The sculptures, commission by renowned artist Nathan Slate Joseph, conjure images of the ancient Middle Eastern dhow boat, and reinforce the connection to the surrounding water. Lining the ceiling cove housing the art is a custom light feature made of backlit fluted crystal rods.

Adorning the walls is a composition of “fashion centric” bespoke art, black and white images of Milan’s street fashion and one of a kind framed vintage scarves, creating a strong connection to the city’s influence as the capital of design and fashion.

Come and experience the unique atmosphere of Cafe Milano.
